Elastic suture for cardiac surgical application
Elastic suture effectively prevents bleeding from the entry point-wounds of the direct pressure lines while removing them post-operatively.

In Open-heart surgeries, often direct pressure lines are placed to monitor Left atrial as well as Pulmonary artery pressures. When the direct pressure line is removed in the ICU or Post-ope ward, While removing... every intensivist or surgeon would definitely have in mind the following two potential complications:
1. Bleeding through the defect through which the pressure line had entered into the Left atrium.
2. Inability to remove due to over tightening of the suture with which the pressure line has been fixed at it's point of entry.
Now, we have got a solution to such complications...
an Elastic suture...
While placing the LA pressure line, fix the entry point with a purse-string suture made with the elastic suture, insert the line, tie the elastic suture firmly and then reinforce with an additional suture.
Now when you remove the pressure line in the ICU or Post-Ope ward., the elastic suture enables an easy and smooth removal simultaneously it closes the defect and prevents any bleeding.
